Dr. Florabel Mullick Named Armed Forces Institute of Pathology Director
Florabel G. Mullick, MD, SES, has been named as the next director of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), becoming the 37th leader of the
145- year-old medical institution that was first founded as the Army Medical Museum.
Dr. Mullick will be the first non-uniformed director in AFIP's history. She is a member of the Army Senior Executive Service and the current AFIP Principal Deputy Director. She will assume the directorship June 29. She replaces Col. (Dr.) Renata B. Greenspan, USA, the institute's first woman director.
"I am grateful to lead AFIP, particularly in these challenging times," Mullick said. "I hope to well and faithfully serve in the great tradition of those directors who have preceded me."
Notable past curators of the Army Medical Museum and directors of AFIP include Majors Walter Reed and James Ash, Brigadier Generals Raymond Dart and Elbert DeCoursey, and Maj. Gen. Joe Blumberg.
